Master of Science and Doctoral Degree

Research programs leading to the degree of Master of Science (M.Sc) by research and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the areas of computer engineering and telecommunications are  available in the School.

Some of the areas where staff members are actively involved in research are:

Embedded System Design

Embedded Vision Systems, Adaptive Digital Signal Processing Systems, FPGA-based VLSI System Design,, Reconfigurable Architectures and System-on-Chip (SoC) Designs, Application Development based on Single Board Computer and GNU/Linux, Fault tolerant System Design.

Communication Systems

Smart Antenna and RF designs, Adaptive Equalization, MIMO Communication Systems, Dedicated Statistical Digital Signal Processing Systems, Image Coding, Wireless and Mobile Communication Systems, Coding for OFDM, CDMA and Optical CDMA systems.

Computer and  Networking

Computer & Optical Networks, Computer Architecture Designs for Specific Area of Applications, Operating Systems, Network Security, Fault Tolerant Computing, Mobile Computing, Real Time Systems.

Artificial Intelligence & Software Engineering

Image Processing, Pattern Recognition, Artificial Neural Network , Fuzzy Logic, Cased Based Reasoning.

Ph.D Entry Requirement
  • A Master’s degree in Engineering from an approved university in an area relevant to the candidate’s proposed area of research; AND
  • A Bachelor degree in Engineering with First Class Honours from an approved university; OR
  • Other equivalent qualification approved by the Senate
Industrial Ph.D
  • Malaysian citizen; AND
  • Candidates must be currently an employee in the industry in Malaysia as an engineer, researcher, or equivalent; OR
  • Posses a master’s degree or a first class honour’s degree in engineering or equivalent from a recognized university by the Malaysian government or an equivalent qualification recognized by the University Senate of UniMAP. 

M.Sc/Ph.D

  • Malaysian citizen; AND
  • A Bachelor degree in Engineering with CGPA 3.30 or above from an approved university; OR
  • A Bachelor degree in Engineering with CGPA 3.00 with at least 3 years working experiences in related fields
  • Other equivalent qualification approved by the Senate
M.Sc
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with or equivalent from an approved university in an area relevant to the candidate’s area of research or study; OR
  • Other equivalent qualification approved by the Senate
Residency Requirement
  • Student must stay in Malaysia through out the program's period for a full time study
  • Student must stay at least for 15 days during the program's period for a part time study
