The aim of Computer Network Engineering is to provide excellent education in modern wireless and wired computer networks, network protocols, architectures and data communication systems. The program specifically provides a solid educational foundation in digital data transmission, source coding and channel coding, Internet and intranet protocols, network architectures, and digital modulation schemes in addition to basic concepts of electrical networks, electronics, electromagnetics, computers, digital systems and communications. Mastery of these areas provides  students with the ability to design, implement and maintain any type of inter/intra networks which is very vital for any industry. This prepares them for rewarding and successful careers in telecommunications (cellular and mobile), data communication networks, network architectures, wireless, optical networking and next generation networks. The program is carefully designed to provide the students with the skills required to design, analyze, install, configure, and maintain enterprise-wide networks.

The degree program ensures that the design experience, which includes both analytical and experimental studies, is integrated throughout the curriculum in a sequential development leading to advanced work. Design problems are frequently assigned in both lecture and laboratory courses. Students are required to complete a major design project during their senior year. Cooperative education programs with IT and Communications companies further supplement the design experience.

The graduates of this program will have comprehensive knowledge in fundamental electronics and computer networking specifically in designing, solving, managing and troubleshooting of communication network systems and (its components). They are prepared to enter jobs as electronic engineers, network administrators, computer support specialists and network engineers. They will have the ability to adapt to the changing environment in computer and networking fields in both the industrial and business establishments.
