MUROC2012 - Congrats SCCE & UniMAP

February 26, 2012 - KANGAR, the Malaysian University Robot Competition (MURoC) 2012 was held at Dewan 2020, Kangar, Perlis from 23rd to 24thFebruary 2012. 79 teams competed, including Public Higher Education Institutions  / Private, Polytechnics, Community Colleges, Mara High Skills College and other technical institutions. UniMAP MURoC team was represented by the School of Computer & Communication Engineering (SCCE), School of Microelectronic Engineering, School of Mechatronics Engineering and the School of Electrical Systems Engineering.

SCCE team led by Mr. Mohammed Asmi,  Mr. Zahari Awang and Mr. Mohammed Sani represented UniMAP in Paintball Robot category. Paintball Robot (named  as Dominator 3.0)  perform excellent by becoming group A champion and obtained the highest points of all group winners. Dominator 3.0  defeated Universiti Malaya team in the quarter-finals and the JMTI team in the semifinals. In the end, the Dominator 3.0 met UiTM (FKM) team and unfortunately due to unexpected technical problems emerged as Runner-up. Paintball Robot team received a cash prize of RM1, 750.

Although UniMAP MURoC team failed to become champion in Paintball Robot category, the UniMAP Muroc team is crowned as the OVERALL WINNER by collecting total of 15 points.  UiTM team is awarded as second place with 13 points. UniMAP Muroc team scores points through Paintball Robot (7 marks), Rope Climbing Robot (5 points - third place) and Fire Fighting Robot (3 points - fourth place). In addition, UniMAP Muroc team also won the BEST BOOTH and received a cash prize of RM500.

The closing ceremony and prize giving ceremony officiated by UniMAP Chancellor, DYTM Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail and Pro-Chancellor, witnessed by Vice Chancellor of UniMAP, Brig. Jen. Dato 'Prof. Dr. Kamaruddin Hussin.
