Visit to King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok and Invited Talks in the First Thai-Malaysia Workshop on Antennas and Propagation (TMWAP) 
 
On 7th September 2017, The School of Computer and Communication Engineering (SCCE) UniMAP headed by the its Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azremi Abdullah Al-Hadi headed a delegation comprising of researchers from UniMAP and Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) for a visit and to participate in the First Thai-Malaysia Workshop on Antennas and Propagation (TWAP) as invited speakers. This workshop is organized in conjunction with a research meeting headed by Prof. Dr. Prayoot Akkaraekthalin from KMUTNB under the Thai Research Fund (TRF) Senior Research Scholar Program. Besides Dr Azremi, the Malaysian delegation is comprised of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamad Zoinol Abidin Abdul Aziz from UTeM and Dr. Mohd Azlishah Othman, both from the Centre of Centre for Telecommunication Research and Innovation (CeTRI), Telecommunication Engineering Department Faculty of Electronics and Computer Engineering, UTeM, and Dr. Soh Ping Jack from Advanced Communication Engineering (ACE) Centre of Excellence, SCCE-UniMAP.  
 
 
This delegation was received by Assistant. Prof. Dr.-Ing.  Suramate Chalermwisutkul, Advisor to the Dean for International and Industrial Relations, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ekachai Juntasaro, Associate Dean for Research and Academic Services, both from the Sirindhorn International Thai-German Graduate School of Engineering (TGGS), King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB). The visit started off with a tour of TGGS and the available lab facilities, including a newly commissioned anechoic chamber. Dr. Suramate who lead the visit, also explained about projects and possible research cooperation topics in the areas of satellite communication, embedded systems and the Internet of Things (IoT). After touring TGGS and KMUTNB for about an hour, the delegation is lead to a seminar room to kick off the workshop. After a welcoming remark by Prof. Dr. Prayoot, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azremi delivered his talk entitled “Multiple Antennas in Realistic Environments: Threats of Opportunities?”, followed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamad Zoinol entitled “Wireless MIMO Capacity Improvement using Double Stage Diversity Techniques”. Next, Dr. Soh delivered an invited talk entitled “Wearable Antennas: Design Considerations and Challenges” before the last talk on publishing by Dr. Azlishah entitled “Strategies to Publish in High Impact Journals”. The workshop was attended by more than 30 academic staff and Thai researchers in antenna and propagation, besides more than 30 students from KMUTNB. The UniMAP delegation then proceeded to meet with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Monpilai Narasingha, Dean of TGGS-KMUTNB before a dinner session hosted by Dr. Suramate. The visit ended on a positive note and the confirmation of the attendance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saowanit Sukparungsee, Assistant to the President for Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance KMUTNB along with Dr. Suramate himself to the signing of the proposed MoU during UniMAP’s Convocation Ceremony in October 2017.
